Director of Technology

We’re partnering with a fast-growing, venture-backed consumer business to hire a Director of Technology. Since launching over 10 years ago, the company has scaled to 200 employees, and is now expanding internationally.

With a strong business model, the business has brought technology in-house to support its growth — building its own platforms and internal tools. A core tech team (engineering + digital product) is already in place, and this role will be key in shaping the next phase.

The Role

This is a strategic leadership position, responsible for defining and delivering the technology roadmap as the business scales further. You’ll lead engineering, platform, infrastructure, IT operations, and security — ensuring systems remain robust, scalable, and fit for future growth.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership, bringing the experience and presence needed to guide key decisions (including build vs buy), while elevating technical capability across the organisation.

Key Focus Areas

• Define and execute the long-term technology strategy
• Lead architecture decisions across internally built platforms
• Build and develop high-performing engineering teams
• Ensure platform scalability, resilience, and security
• Own infrastructure, IT operations, and vendor management
• Partner closely with product, operations, and commercial teams
• Drive smart build vs buy decisions
• Explore AI and automation opportunities to improve efficiency

About You

• Proven experience leading technology teams in scaling, product-led businesses
• Strong background in software engineering and architecture
• Experience with complex, internally built systems (e.g. ERP, subscription platforms)
• Commercially minded, able to align technology with business growth
• Confident operating at senior leadership / board level
• Ideally exposure to e-commerce, D2C, or operationally complex environments
