Role – SR163 Site Manager
Location – Manchester
Mint Selection are partnering with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an experienced SR163 Site Manager for an immediate start on an 18-month contract based in Manchester.
Scope of Work
- Supervise daily site activities across the BESS project, including HV/LV installation works, cabling, containment, substations, inverter stations, and associated balance of plant works.
- Coordinate and oversee site operatives and subcontractors to ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with drawings and specifications.
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards and site permit-to-work systems.
- Support the Project Manager with progress reporting, quality checks, and coordination with other disciplines including civil, electrical, and commissioning teams.
- Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions to maintain safe working practices.
- Monitor site progress and workmanship, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality requirements.
- Complete and maintain site records, including daily diaries, permits, inspections, and test records.
- Liaise with suppliers, delivery teams, and subcontractors to manage material and equipment logistics on site.
- Identify and report any risks, delays, or non-conformances to the Project Manager.
- Support commissioning, energisation, and handover by ensuring all works are completed and verified to the required standards.
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with National Grid SR163 requirements and project procedures.
Experience to be Considered
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on BESS, substation, renewable energy, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of National Grid SR163 requirements and grid connection projects.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical installation techniques including HV/LV systems, substations, cabling, containment, and earthing systems.
- Experience supervising multi-skilled site teams and subcontractors under tight programme requirements.
- Sound knowledge of HSEQ procedures, permits, and safe systems of work.
- Good communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to maintain a strong site presence and proactive approach.
- Experience supporting commissioning and energisation activities on grid-connected projects would be advantageous.
These will be 18-month contracts, outside IR35.
