Develop your high‑risk foot skills within a supportive, expert team. The role is open to newly qualified podiatrists or professionals seeking to progress from Band 5 to Band 6 through a supported development pathway. This Band 6 Clinical Podiatrist position is part of a well‑established service that manages a large and complex high‑risk foot caseload across Hillingdon.
Band 5 – 6 Development Pathway
This is a 12‑month fixed‑team development role for suitable candidates. You will be supported through a structured Band 5 – 6 progression pathway designed to build confidence, autonomy, and clinical competence. Upon satisfactory completion of the agreed competencies, the post holder will be promoted to permanent Band 6. If competencies are not achieved within the agreed timeframe, the role will conclude at the 12‑month period.
Main Duties of the Job
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients with complex podiatric needs
- Develop and implement individualised care plans
- Provide specialist care for patients with
- Diabetes and high‑risk foot conditions
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Rheumatological conditions
- Acute and chronic neuropathies
- Wound management
- Biomechanical problems
- Plan and manage your own caseload in line with agreed clinical pathways
- Signpost and refer patients appropriately within the multidisciplinary team

Person Specification
Qualifications
- HCPC Podiatrist Registration
- Degree or Diploma in Podiatric Medicine
- Relevant experience
- Evidence of CPD Portfolio
- Certificate in local anaesthesia
Experience
- Experience in the NHS or similar sector
- Experience of treating a varied caseload of podiatry patients, including those with high‑risk conditions
- Experience of working in both a team and on your own managing a caseload with the ability to risk‑categorise patients
- Experience of multi‑disciplinary working, care in the community and domiciliary settings
- Clinical skills including vascular and neurological assessment
- Demonstrate clinical reasoning and decision‑making skills in the management of podiatric conditions including care planning and evaluation
- Ability to undertake nails surgery assessments, procedure and post‑operative care
- Knowledge of health and safety at work
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of the effect of diabetes in podiatric care
- Sound knowledge and experience in wound care including treatment modalities and biomechanics
- Demonstrates current clinical knowledge regarding evidence‑based and best practices
- Ability and knowledge of appropriate investigations required in the treatment of the high‑risk foot
- Knowledge of national policy relating to the diabetic foot
