In the heart of Merton, South West London, an Outstanding Secondary School is searching for a Head of Design Technology to start in September 2026. This permanent, full‑time position will lead a department that has recently received significant investment in state‑of‑the‑art equipment.

This is a full‑time, permanent contract.

Job Description

• Lead and develop the Design Technology department.
• Inspire and motivate students across the curriculum.
• Collaborate with a team of dedicated Design Technology teachers.
• Support and manage early career teachers, including welcoming ECTs.
• Run the department within the MPS1‑UPS3 curriculum framework.
• Maintain the department’s location within the Borough of Merton.

Person Specification

• UK QTS, or in the process of gaining QTS.
• Strong academic background: degree, A Levels, and GCSEs.
• Meeting the 8 Teaching Standards to a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ level.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a large DT team.
• Willingness to listen to feedback and engage in professional development.
