Your Role at a Glance
As a Senior Credit Risk Data Scientist, you will be a key driver within Wayflyer’s Quantitative Risk Team. You will own the end‑to‑end process of credit risk models, translate statistical theory into tangible financial outcomes, and contribute to scaling global funding operations to drive consistent revenue growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of credit risk models, ensuring production‑grade ML engineering with fast, reproducible, and robust outputs.
- Design and implement sophisticated modeling frameworks (e.g., decisioning, pricing, fraud detection) that influence company‑wide P&L.
- Develop data‑driven credit policies and lending strategies to safely expand the addressable market while maximizing conversion, growth, and profitability.
- Maintain statistical rigor, ensuring model improvements are statistically significant and free from data leakage or bias.
- Translate technical findings into business trade‑offs for leadership, mapping model metrics (e.g., ROC AUC) directly to revenue and loss indicators.
- Set code standards through high‑value reviews, mentor junior members, and contribute to internal libraries.
Qualifications
- 4+ years in Data Science/ML with a proven track record of building and maintaining production‑grade ML systems.
- Advanced knowledge of predictive modeling and credit risk concepts (IV, ROC AUC, SHAP).
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, comfortable with modern monorepo workflows and tools like Snowflake, dbt, ZenML, Dagster, Weights & Biases, etc.
- Experience leveraging AI and LLMs to accelerate high‑quality outputs.
- Deep understanding of credit risk metrics (PD, EAD, LGD, EL) and the trade‑offs between risk appetite and growth.
- Excellent communication skills to persuade non‑technical stakeholders and distill high‑level risk strategy into clear, actionable stories.
