Position
Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Mental Health division of Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment for a diverse patient group and families under a care programme approach, addressing significant mental health conditions.
- Offer a stabilisation outpatient clinic and prescribe medications for patients attending Nottingham University hospitals identified by liaison psychiatry.
- Deliver realistic and, where required, intensive support to patients in an acute hospital setting.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership, offering education and supervision to junior staff and other professionals.
- Implement and evaluate safe, effective treatment plans in collaboration with patients, carers and other professionals.
- Ensure all interventions are evidence‑based, designed to reduce stress and anxiety, manage risk, and aid recovery.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and relevant clinical records, both written and computerised, ensuring safe custody of healthcare records.
- Oversee the safe monitoring, management and administration of medication as required by Trust policy.
- Complete relevant assessments and develop evidence‑based individual care plans; report on service quality.
- Apply Clinical Governance systems and maintain compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
- Adhere to the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Standards, and related legislation.
- Apply infection prevention and control principles in accordance with Trust policy.
- Interpret physical healthcare observations, act upon them when required, and support nursing staff around complex cases.
- Assume safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults; make timely referrals in line with Trust policy and legal frameworks.
