Role Purpose
The Capex Process Data & AI Product Owner ensures capital investment decisions are justified using real asset data, utilization evidence, and lifecycle logic. The role designs an AI assistant that supports capex requests by linking capex service requests and interrogating inventory and utilization data to present clear, defensible recommendations. This role does not build AI models or write code; it defines the questions the AI can answer, the data it uses, the rules it follows, and how recommendations are explained. The role holder must bring a marginal gains mindset, continuously improving processes for ongoing productivity gains.
Key Responsibilities
- Define Capex Recommendation Standards: specify required evidence for every AI‑supported recommendation, including inventory at site and nearby locations, utilization and redundancy, asset age, performance and downtime trends, financial threshold logic, and mandatory data‑based challenge points.
- Own system linkage between Capex service requests, Live inventory, Utilization and service performance data; identify missing, unreliable, or poorly classified data early and own the fixes.
- Own Capex Decision Rules: translate capital governance policy into decision logic, including approval thresholds, replace vs repair vs redeployment logic, exceptions and escalation paths; design the AI tool and wireframes.
- Define functional requirements for capital request capture, capacity analysis logic, replace/redeploy/repair recommendations; ensure recommendation logic is aligned with stakeholders at the design stage; validate with real governance forums; test recommendations with capital committees and site leaders; unify the process and prevent local exceptions from becoming embedded system rules; continuous improvement; review rejected and approved capex outcomes; refine decision logic as demand patterns evolve; monitor data integrity across the asset lifecycle.
