Infrastructure Storage Analyst
Duration: 6-month contract
Location: Manchester, hybrid (1 day per month onsite). Occasional visits to Coventry/Birmingham office may be required.
Rate: up to £325.68 p/d Umbrella inside IR35
Role purpose / summary
The Infrastructure Storage Analyst will join an established Platform team within CBS, providing technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve production incidents or problems independently. Tasks are completed to agreed levels of quality within stated timescales with minimal supervision. The analyst identifies improvement opportunities, supports peers, and contributes to team efficiency through creation of accurate technical documentation where required.
Responsibilities
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve production service incidents.
- Perform technical tasks such as patching, allocating storage, maintaining scripts and configuring backups.
- Prioritise tasks to ensure high-priority activities are completed first.
- Contribute to improvement opportunities within the team and its processes/procedures.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable level of knowledge in chosen technical discipline.
- Experience in a complex, pressurised production environment; experience in financial services is desirable but not essential.
- VMware and enterprise skills (vRealize, SRM, Operations Manager).
- Cisco UCS infrastructure (compute, networking, storage).
- Good knowledge of storage technologies vSAN and VxRail.
- Experience with Linux command line; IBM Storage operates on Unix.
- Exposure to cluster management within Spectrum Scale.
- Familiarity with Spectrum Scale protocols (GPFS, NFS, SMB in active‑active topology).
- Experience with IBM Flash Systems replication (global mirror, metro mirror, change volumes).
- Experience with ticket management using ServiceNow.
- Understanding of VMware products including vSphere, vRealize and related technologies.
- Understanding of Cisco UCS and HPE infrastructure; virtualisation architecture support.
- Awareness of cloud technologies (AWS) and associated features; experience in AWS server administration.
- Experience working within an Agile delivery environment.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Spectrum Scale protocols and active‑active topology.
- Knowledge of GKLM (SKLM) and its impact on availability.
- Exposure to Oracle and ESXi environments.
- Provisioning and redaction of storage across IBM storage estate.
