Linux Software Development Engineer
Become part of our SWARCO team as a Linux Software Development Engineer working on the UK integration of the most widely deployed Traffic Light Controller in the world. We design and deliver innovative solutions that keep people moving safely and efficiently across the UK and Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Develop Linux software for a traffic light controller in the UK.
- Co‑develop supporting tools, primarily in Python.
- Build an understanding of regulations, market requirements and traffic control in the UK and turn that into actionable changes for a global product in a local market.
- Implement, document and test software solutions using C++ and possibly GoLang and/or Python.
- Design new applications and enhance existing ones.
- Work with colleagues in an international environment.
- Engage in daily work in an agile environment, developing and optimizing processes and best practices.
- Interpret customer requirements specifications, generating functional requirements documentation for software development.
- Maintain software development to company quality standards while helping to attain the highest security standards for our systems.
- Identify improvements to the development process and maintain leading‑edge software development tools and techniques for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 2:1 or better degree in BSc Computer Science or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years Linux software development experience.
- Experience working with Git code management and workflow processes.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
