Job Overview
We have a really exciting opportunity for you to join our Care of the Elderly Advanced Clinical Practitioner team at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Care of the Elderly and Acute Frailty Service (Band 7). The successful post holder will be supported to undertake the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and upon successful completion will become a Band 8a. The trainee is required to work a minimum of 30 hours (0.8 WTE) as per Health Education / NHS England guidance.

- Competence in Non-Medical Prescribing, if supported by the practitioner’s professional regulator.

- Extensive experience in Care of the older person.

- Strong critical thinking in clinical decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- High profile, accessible and responsive leader with managerial and clinical responsibility for the delivery of Advanced Clinical Practice in Care of the Elderly and Acute Frailty service. Able to make informed decisions within their own speciality and scope of professional practice, involving patients and the public to ensure agreed standards, targets and objectives are met.
- Work collaboratively with the Care of the Elderly team to meet the needs of patients, and play a key role in service delivery and adherence to policy and procedures. Guide junior medical and nursing staff in relation to relevant protocols and procedures.
- Work within all areas where Care of the Elderly patients may be housed – Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (FSDEC), medical admissions unit (MAU), Emergency Department (ED), Care of the Elderly wards, outlying and rehabilitation wards. Conduct primary and secondary assessments alongside medical colleagues, providing support and guidance to nursing and medical staff in the management of Care of the Elderly patients. Support the development of Geriatric outreach to the community in the near future to meet the needs of the local population.
Additional Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
