A true alternative.
With over 5,000 people in the UK and a presence in 150 global markets, we are on an ambitious journey from great to exceptional, and we need the best people to help us achieve our potential. This is your chance to help redefine what our industry looks like and what you want from your career.
Ready to launch your future? Ignite is your chance to step inside the world of accountancy and experience Grant Thornton like never before. Over four action‑packed days you will dive into real projects, connect with our people, and get a true feel for what a future in accountancy could be.
Ignite is designed for Year 12 and 13 students (as of September 2026) who are keen to learn more about accountancy and business. Those who stand out during the programme could fast‑track onto one of our highly sought‑after school‑leaver programmes, securing their future before they even leave school.
We particularly encourage applications from students who are genuinely interested in starting their career through a school‑leaver programme after completing their studies. If you are excited by the idea of beginning your professional journey straight from school and want real responsibility, real learning and real development, this experience is designed with you in mind.
Dates: Monday 17 – Thursday 20 August 2026
Location: Gatwick office – in‑person (please ensure the office you apply to is within a reasonable commuting distance)
Before applying, consider whether a school‑leaver programme aligns with your long‑term goals. Ignite is designed for students who are interested in transitioning into a career in accountancy after school.
You do not need any prior work experience. We are looking for enthusiastic, curious individuals who are eager to learn and have a keen interest in business.
Please note, this is an in‑person work experience and full attendance is required to successfully complete the programme. You must be available for the full duration of the programme. Also consider whether the office you are applying to is within a reasonable commuting distance from your home.
The culture at Grant Thornton is what sets us apart. We are known for our inclusive culture and for creating environments where all our people can flourish. The qualities that set you apart are valued, and they help us all to perform at our best. Our values are the unwavering principles that shape our daily behaviours and decisions, and they drive us to do the right thing. We are looking for people who align with our values – purposefully driven, actively curious, candid but kind.
Applying is quick and simple. You start by filling out a quick application form. This is followed by an online assessment that usually takes less than five minutes to complete. You will then complete a written case study, which is a great way to learn more about the type of work we do at Grant Thornton.
