Midwife Band 7 (Interim) (Bereavement and pregnancy loss interim role for 10 months)
At Barts Health NHS Trust our local community is home to families from a diverse mix of ethnicity, social challenge and health needs. Whipps Cross Hospital is situated in East London, with easy access to public transport. We provide Maternity services to approximately 4000 women per year. This position focuses on coordinating bereavement and pregnancy loss services on an interim basis.
Although this position is a 10 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. The contract will begin when the candidate starts and may be slightly shorter than 10 months.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate bereavement and pregnancy loss services on an interim basis for Whipps Cross Hospital.
- Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic care to women who have suffered pregnancy loss, in collaboration with the inter-professional team.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills to support women and staff during difficult circumstances; act as a professional role model and clinical teacher.
- Provide organisational, management and leadership to the maternity unit on all aspects of bereavement; work with obstetric leads to review, evaluate and develop clinics, services and processes.
Requirements
- Two years post-registration experience, with at least one year in the acute intrapartum setting.
- Strong assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills; commitment to high-quality care for women experiencing pregnancy loss.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to support women and staff during challenging circumstances.
- Ability to lead and model professional practice within the maternity unit and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
