Cyber Compliance Engineer
Location Glasgow
Salary £54-68K (plus 15% pension)
Job type Permanent, Hybrid (2-3 days per week in office)
ScottishPower is looking to appoint a Cyber Compliance Engineer (Telecoms) to join its operational technology and telecommunications environment in Glasgow. This role plays a key part in ensuring telecoms platforms meet regulatory, security and compliance requirements, helping safeguard critical infrastructure while supporting reliable, secure services across the business.
As the SPEN telecoms Cyber SME you will work closely with the cyber security, Infrastructure and external vendor teams to carry out risk assessments, support audits and oversee vulnerability and compliance monitoring activities. This includes evaluating cyber risks, defining mitigation strategies and ensuring issues are tracked through to resolution. You will support the design, deployment and continuous improvement of security controls across telecoms networks, ensuring that cyber security requirements are built into new and existing solutions.
You will also provide technical cyber security input into telecoms network architecture, including network management systems and supporting applications. This includes working with engineering and delivery teams to ensure cyber security requirements are clearly understood, designed in and maintained across both existing and new telecoms management solutions.
You will be confident facilitating technical and governance discussions, chairing meetings and workshops, and presenting cyber risk, compliance status and assurance findings to a range of stakeholders at different levels of technical understanding.
The role also has a strong focus on governance and assurance. You will help develop policies, procedures and reporting that demonstrate security compliance, while contributing to cyber incident readiness through planning, testing and coordination with wider security and resilience teams. As part of a wider global security function, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to maintain a consistent approach to cyber compliance and risk management.
This opportunity would suit someone with a solid grounding in cyber security principles and compliance, ideally within telecoms, critical infrastructure or operational technology environments. You will bring a good understanding of network security, risk management, regulatory standards and cyber threat landscapes, along with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. A proactive mindset, strong attention to detail and the ability to balance security requirements with operational needs are essential to success in this role.
As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
