Environmental Services Design Limited operate a hybrid working policy (following completion of the standard probational period) so this opportunity will be a blend of working from home and within the office.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Building Physics Engineer based in either our offices in Salford or Otley. The role involves assessing the energy performance of buildings, conducting building simulations, and creating strategies to improve energy efficiency.

Responsibilities include working closely with design teams, evaluating compliance with relevant energy and environmental standards, and integrating sustainable technologies into projects. Collaboration with other professionals to provide bespoke solutions and advice is a key part of the role.

Candidates should possess strong experience with IES VE software and a solid understanding of UK Building Regulations.

Experience and Qualifications

• Certified Non-Domestic Energy Assessor and registered with an approved accreditation scheme (CIBSE or Elmhurst Energy) to lodge Energy Performance Certificates on the national register.
• Educated to degree level in physical sciences or any engineering discipline – for example physics, mechanical or electrical engineering, building services engineering, environmental engineering or architectural engineering.
• Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of working experience in the same/similar role.
• Strong proficiency in IES VE software
• Ideal knowledge of SAP 10.2
• In depth knowledge of relevant UK regulations and guidance, including Building Regulations Part L/Part O, CIBSE TM52/TM59/TM54, and BREEAM credits relating to Building Physics
• Experience in operational energy assessments, including detailed HVAC modelling.
• Experience in the production of a buildings heat gains and losses.
• Experience in supporting planning applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A passion for sustainable building design and reducing the carbon emissions of the built environment
