The Role
This is a hybrid position combining on-site surveying and engineering work with home-based reporting and coordination. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting solar PV systems installed across schools nationwide.
There is an expectation to work away on-site across the UK 2–3 days per week. All travel, accommodation, and fuel expenses are covered.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out site surveys, pre-installation visits, and system commissioning
- Perform fault finding, diagnostics, and repair work
- Conduct annual inspections and 3-year electrical testing
- Submit detailed site reports within 24 hours
- Work with monitoring teams to identify and resolve faults
- Repair or replace inverters, meters, cables, and communication equipment
- Maintain asset management records
- Assist with design reviews, planning, and grid connections
- Represent the company professionally on-site
- Build relationships with school site managers, business managers, and trust representatives
- Lead or contribute to on-site meetings
Qualifications
- Electrical engineering or installation background
- Surveying or inspection experience
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good health & safety knowledge
- Customer-facing confidence
- IT and reporting skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check
- C&G 2391 (Inspection & Testing)
- Level 3 Electrical Installation
- 18th Edition
- Experience in commercial or education environments
