Overview

As Marqeta’s Senior Account Executive based in London, you will lead the expansion and scaling of our partnerships across larger Fintech, Financial Institution, banking, and embedded finance businesses. This strategic role requires a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, particularly the issuing side, to navigate complex business and technical engagements. The European Sales team aims to expand Marqeta’s sales footprint in Europe to pursue the largest commercial opportunities in our evolving business. The customers include traditional and digital banking organizations, large fintechs, fintech innovators, and companies seeking to launch, scale, and evolve their card programmes for their customers.

This role is ideal for individuals who want to dive into complex business and technical engagements across multiple development areas.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with executives and entrepreneurs driving B2B and consumer payments innovation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in Product, Legal, Compliance and Delivery to define solutions that empower customers.
  • Originate new customer opportunities, respond to inbound opportunities, and shepherd deals from opening to contract and close.
  • Deeply understand and articulate Marqeta's technology, communicate its benefits, and build trust with stakeholders across revenue growth, product and technology teams.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of sales experience, ideally within payments, fintech, or complex B2B technology.
  • Mandatory Payments Expertise: deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, with strong card experience; knowledge of issuer-processing ecosystem is a plus.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and evolving product roadmap; ability to manage internal and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Familiarity with the fintech ecosystem, B2B technology applications, and communicating technical and product benefits to buyers of varying sophistication.
  • Financial acumen to evaluate and model complex customer proposals and contract financials.
  • Ability to represent Marqeta to C-suite executives and entrepreneurs confidently.
  • Strong prioritisation and multi-project delivery under aggressive timelines.
  • Superior communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, email, and presentation) and ability to orchestrate the sales process with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, adaptable, resourceful, and capable of working independently.

Great To Have But Not Required

  • Experience selling in the issuer-processing space.
