Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services provides phlebotomy services at six main sites: University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in Coventry and Rugby, City of Coventry Health Centre in Coventry, George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton, South Warwickshire Foundation Trust in Warwick, and additional outpatient and inpatient services. Community clinics, GP clinics and domiciliary services also cover Coventry, Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Birmingham.
This role is a Phlebotomy Team Leader at UHCW. The incumbent will deputise for the Phlebotomy Supervisor, perform phlebotomy duties, support the team and provide optimum patient care, and carry out duties deemed reasonable by the phlebotomy manager.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the collection of blood samples from inpatients, outpatients, clinics, GP surgeries and patient homes as specified by the supervisor; must be experienced in taking blood from all patient types and ages, from babies to the elderly.
- Undertake competency assessments of the venepuncture procedure for all new staff.
- Act as a point of reference for health and safety for the department, attending and supporting regular health and safety meetings held by the division in the absence of the Phlebotomy Supervisor.
- Monitor and record staff leave and absence.
- Ensure mandatory training is completed.
Shift Pattern
Applicants will be expected to work shift patterns supporting services seven days a week, including early, late, weekend and bank holiday shifts.
Requirements
Applicants must provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
