About The Role

An amazing opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Specialist at our Dundee manufacturing site. The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for procurement activities across materials and services for the site and globally as directed by the Global Head of Procurement. This is not a buying/transactional supply role. This is a hybrid role, with at least 2 days onsite in Dundee.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage relationships with key suppliers of materials and services to the Dundee site and globally as directed, negotiating cost‑effective terms for the supply of major contract items.
  • Be accountable for procurement activities, achieving targets and objectives, ensuring consistency in systems, processes, and procedures, and on‑time delivery to support production plans.
  • Support and lead, as directed, global procurement initiatives to standardise material and service providers and reduce costs, including IT, finance, travel, utilities, insurance, and others.
  • Drive material change controls, material CAPAs, deviation actions as required within the portfolio.
  • Support the Site GM with strategy and business plans by identifying and communicating improvement opportunities.
  • Be a key member of the Site Leadership Team.
  • Maintain awareness of market and technology trends to maximise cost‑saving opportunities and minimise risk in procurement of direct materials and services.
  • Drive supplier KPIs and procurement strategy to deliver superior customer service and cost savings.
  • Provide input and support for annual customer pricing reviews.
  • Identify and source new materials in support of PDS.
  • Set inventory standards (safety stock, lead times, MOQ, order multiples) in collaboration with the Head of Supply Chain to enable system automation of purchasing.
  • Identify supply‑chain risk for direct materials and lead projects to mitigate risk, such as qualification of alternative suppliers.
  • Optimise cash flow through inventory policy and payment terms that provide the right service to the business while minimising total inventory value.
  • Investigate and resolve anomalies with material suppliers via non‑conformance reports, root‑cause analysis, and preventative action.

Qualifications

  • Educated to a bachelor’s level, or equivalent, preferably in administration, logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Undertaking CIPS would be beneficial but is not essential. Argenta covers procurement training expenses, including the CIPS qualification pathway.

Knowledge / Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of procurement experience across direct material, indirect and CAPEX spend.
  • Experience in animal health contract manufacturing organisations (CMO) to source, negotiate and execute procurement of raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), chemical and biological excipients, and packaging to meet site manufacturing and quality requirements.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills and ability to build positive relationships with local and overseas suppliers, working towards mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Experience in procurement across a global landscape of suppliers.
  • Experience in procurement category management techniques.
  • Experience in procurement technologies, e.g., e‑sourcing and source‑to‑pay systems.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and create value within complex supply‑chain networks.
  • Knowledge of GMP and FDA manufacturing regulations.
  • Strong commercial skills and acumen.
  • Highly collaborative, credible, and able to engage and influence senior levels internally.
  • High energy and commitment.
  • Willingness to take accountability for procurement performance.
  • Problem‑solving skills and analytical assessment abilities to make business‑critical decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Sound time‑management and organisational skills.
