About Gerrys Hot Subs Gerrys Hot Subs is a fast-growing hot sandwich and casual dining brand focused on quality ingredients, fast service, and consistent customer experience. We are looking for an experienced and reliable Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen operations and help grow the business.
Position Summary The Head Chef/Kitchen Manager will oversee all kitchen operations, food preparation, quality control, inventory management, staff training, and food safety standards. The ideal candidate has experience working in fast-paced kitchens, sandwich shops, grills, or quick-service restaurants and can maintain excellent food quality during busy service periods.
Key Responsibilities Kitchen Operations Manage daily kitchen operations efficiently
Prepare and oversee all hot subs, sauces, sides, and prep items
Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards
Maintain speed and accuracy during peak hours
Staff Management Train, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff
Create staff schedules and manage shift coverage
Maintain a positive and professional kitchen environment
Assist with hiring and onboarding new team members
Inventory & Cost Control Monitor inventory and place supply orders
Reduce food waste and control portion sizes
Track food costs and maintain profitability targets
Work with suppliers to ensure quality ingredients
Health & Safety Ensure full compliance with food hygiene and safety regulations
Maintain clean and organized kitchen stations
Follow HACCP and health inspection standards
Enforce sanitation and safety procedures at all times
Menu Development Assist with recipe development and menu improvements
Standardize recipes and preparation methods
Introduce new ideas to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
Requirements Minimum 35 years of kitchen or chef experience
Experience in fast casual, sandwich shop, grill, or quick-service restaurant preferred
Strong leadership and communication skills xwzovoh
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of food safety and kitchen management
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications Food Hygiene Certificate
Kitchen management or supervisory experience
Experience managing inventory and food costing
