Mental Health Specialist Trainer
Home-based with travel (New Market, Wisbech area, occasional travel to Yorkshire) £45,000-£50,000 Full-time (40 hours)
A leading children's care provider is seeking a Mental Health Specialist Trainer / Learning & Development Partner. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced mental health professional with a passion for developing others and improving outcomes for children and young people.
The Opportunity
In this impactful role, you will take the lead in delivering and developing high-quality training programmes across children's residential and educational services. You will play a vital role in equipping staff with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to support children and young people with complex mental health, trauma-related, emotional, and behavioural needs. You'll be instrumental in shaping a trauma-informed, psychologically informed culture-ensuring teams can respond safely, effectively, and therapeutically in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, evidence-based training across a range of topics including mental health, trauma, safeguarding, and behavioural support
- Provide specialist guidance to staff and managers on complex mental health presentations including anxiety, depression, self-injurious behaviour, and trauma
- Develop and deliver bespoke training tailored to individual homes, schools, and services
- Support the ongoing development of trauma-informed and relationship-based practice across services
- Work collaboratively with operational leaders to identify and respond to emerging training needs
- Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve learning programmes
About You

Essential:
- Professional qualification in a mental health-related field (e.g., Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy)
- Minimum 3 years' experience working with children and young people in mental health, residential care, or related services
- Strong expertise in trauma-informed practice and complex mental health presentations
- Experience delivering or designing training programmes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly
Desirable:
- Training or teaching qualification
- Previous experience in a Learning & Development role
