Family Support Worker
- Location: Castleford, West Yorkshire, WF10
- Job Type: Full-time, Contract.
We are excited to launch a pilot project aimed at providing bespoke and creative support services for older children aged 10 years and above, where care is seen as detrimental to their life outcomes. This innovative programme, set to go live on the 1st of April 2026, focuses on children experiencing neglectful parenting. The role involves working with a small cohort of 4-6 cases, decided through a formal panel process, providing a range of support over a period of 3 to 12 months.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Direct Family Support Duties: Work directly in family homes to improve living conditions, support daily routines, and address educational, health, and social concerns.
- Modelling Good Parenting: Demonstrate positive parenting behaviors, helping parents enhance their skills beyond the 'good enough' standard to reduce neglect.
- Flexible Working Hours: Adapt to the needs of the families, which may include early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
- Transport and Driving: Transport families and young people as part of your duties (business insurance required).
- Minimal Paperwork: Focus primarily on practical, in-person work with minimal administrative duties.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 6 Months minimum experience in working directly with children and families in a home setting, particularly with challenging dynamics.
- Must be a car driver with appropriate business insurance.
- Ability to model positive behaviors and support family routines.
- Flexibility to work outside standard office hours as required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
