Construction Lead – Data Centres
The Role:
As the Construction Lead, you will take full leadership responsibility for the successful delivery of the project from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover. You will oversee all operational, commercial, programme, and stakeholder management activities, acting as the key interface between the client, internal teams, and specialist supply chain partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of hyperscale data centre projects.
- Direct and manage onsite project teams, including project managers, engineers, commercial staff, and subcontractors.
- Develop and drive project programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance throughout all phases.
- Oversee commercial performance, budgets, contract administration, and cost control.
- Manage procurement of major packages and selection of specialist subcontractors.
- Ensure seamless coordination between civil, structural, architectural, and MEP elements.
- Lead stakeholder engagement with the client, design partners, and internal leadership.
- Manage risk, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure robust reporting.
- Drive commissioning, testing, and final handover activities to the highest standards.
Experience & Requirements:
- Proven track record delivering major Data Centre Projects.
- You are a construction expert with 20 years + experience.
- Significant experience in data centres, high-tech, mission-critical, or complex MEP-heavy builds.
- Strong understanding of contract management (NEC / JCT).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to manage complex technical interfaces and fast-paced programmes.
- Background with a main contractor is essential.
