About the Role
We are working with Northampton General Hospital to recruit a Band 5 Specialist Pharmacy or Science Manufacturing Technician to join their Aseptic Services Unit (ASU).
This is a key role within a highly specialised pharmacy service, supporting the preparation and supply of aseptically prepared intravenous medicines, including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and dispensing of aseptic medicines (patient-specific and batch production)
- Undertake final checking and release of aseptically prepared products (once competent)
- Work within cleanroom and isolator environments, following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Coordinate day-to-day workload within the Aseptic Unit to ensure timely delivery of treatments
- Support cost improvement initiatives, data analysis, and reporting of key performance metrics
- Manage charging processes for external customers and resolve invoice queries
- Contribute to quality systems, audits, and service improvement initiatives
- Support training and supervision of junior staff where required

Essential Requirements
- Qualified Pharmacy Technician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent),
- or Science Manufacturing Technician qualification,
- or relevant degree in pharmaceutical science or related field
- Professional registration with GPhC, Science Council or RPS
- Knowledge and experience of aseptic preparation and GMP
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication, organisation, and IT skills
Desirable
- Experience in hospital aseptic services
- Experience in final checking and releasing products
- Experience with quality systems, audits, or CAPA processes
- Experience supervising or training staff
- Knowledge of electronic quality management systems (EQMS)
