Design Draftsman

Role Description

We are seeking a talented and detail‑oriented Design Draftsperson / Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) operator to join our Ipswich‑based team. In this on‑site role, you will produce precise technical, engineering, and architectural drawings that support the creation of bespoke furniture and interior solutions. You will work closely with designers, cabinet makers, and other team members to translate concepts into accurate, production‑ready plans that meet client specifications and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate technical, engineering, and architectural drawings using CAD software.
• Create detailed plans for bespoke furniture and related design elements.
• Collaborate with the design team to develop and refine concepts.
• Interpret client requirements and translate them into clear, buildable designs.
• Review, revise, and update drawings based on feedback from clients, designers, and production teams.
• Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, regulations, and internal quality expectations.
• Prepare supporting documentation such as specifications, bills of materials, and drawing registers.
• Conduct site visits to gather measurements and relevant design information.
• Work closely with production teams to ensure designs are feasible and accurately executed.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in creating precise Technical Drawings and Engineering Drawings.

• Experience producing accurate Drawing and Architectural documentation in professional settings.

• Strong skills in Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) software and tools.

• Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies, anticipate issues, and resolve design challenges proactively.

• Strong problem‑solving skills, particularly in translating complex design requirements into practical, buildable solutions.

• Ability to effectively interpret client requirements and communicate design ideas clearly.

• A background or degree in Furniture Design, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is advantageous.

• Punctuality, strong teamwork, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.
