Role Overview
This role sits within a Battery Electric Vehicle engineering environment and focuses on supporting the testing and development of prototype vehicle fleets. The position plays a key part in ensuring smooth operation of test vehicles by identifying, analysing, and supporting resolution of issues related to powertrain and charging systems.
The role involves first-line technical investigation of issues raised from vehicle testing activities, ensuring high-quality data capture, clear problem definition, and effective collaboration with engineering teams to support timely resolution. A strong emphasis is placed on learning capture and continuous improvement across the test fleet and development programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead initial triage and technical analysis of issues identified on prototype battery electric vehicles
- Capture and document high-quality test data with clear and structured problem descriptions
- Support diagnosis and resolution of powertrain and charging system issues to maintain fleet operation
- Coordinate and engage with relevant engineering teams to support issue investigation and resolution
- Assist in identifying appropriate corrective actions and engineering improvements
- Support validation activities, including software and system updates on test vehicles
- Collaborate with test and engineering teams to replicate and investigate issues on vehicles or test rigs
- Ensure lessons learned are captured and shared across relevant teams to improve future development quality

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong interest in diagnosing and resolving vehicle-level technical issues
- Understanding of electric vehicle propulsion system architecture and functionality
- Experience working with high-voltage vehicle systems or components in a testing environment
- Ability to analyse engineering data and produce clear technical reports using appropriate tools
- Structured problem-solving approach within a technical or engineering environment
- Ability to interpret and work with engineering documentation effectively
- Strong curiosity and willingness to challenge and improve existing engineering approaches
- Full UK driving licence
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
- Ability to travel between engineering and test locations as required
