Our client is seeking a commercially minded and technically capable Technical Sales Engineer to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual with a structural or engineering background to play a key role in developing new business opportunities, supporting customers with technical solutions, and driving sustained profitable growth across the UK market.
The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging with engineers, contractors, and clients to provide technical support and estimation expertise for building envelope systems including composite floors, structural roof decking, and façade/envelope solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with engineers, contractors, architects, and existing customers.
- Identify and create new business opportunities within the construction and structural sectors.
- Provide technical support and guidance on composite floors, structural roof decking, and building envelope systems.
- Prepare structural estimations and assist with calculations relating to customer enquiries and project requirements.
- Deliver product presentations and technical demonstrations to clients and stakeholders.
- Support projects from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout.
- Interpret wind loading regulations and structural requirements to provide compliant solutions.
- Carry out structural calculations manually where required.
- Use structural calculation software including Sandstat and Spanr.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure commercially viable and technically sound project delivery.
- Attend client meetings, project reviews, and site visits across the UK.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities within the construction industry.
Key Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience within a technical sales, structural engineering, or construction-related role.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Structural or engineering background essential.
- Strong understanding of building envelope systems, composite flooring, structural roof decking, or façade systems.
- Experience carrying out structural calculations and interpreting wind regulations.
- Familiarity with Sandstat, Spanr, or similar structural steel calculation software desirable.
- Commercially aware with strong business development ability.
- Confident communicator with excellent presentation and client facing skills.
- Ability to engage with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with a proactive “get up and go” attitude.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical technical solutions.
- Ability to manage projects from conception through to completion.
