Underwriter – Portfolio Solutions (Specialty)

We are partnering with a high‑performing syndicate in the London Market to identify an Underwriter for its portfolio solutions team. This is a rare opportunity to join a lean, intellectually rigorous underwriting environment focused on building a differentiated book of delegated authority and partnership‑led business across Property, Casualty and adjacent specialty lines. Unlike traditional binder models, the platform takes meaningful lead positions and works selectively with a small number of counterparties, with each deal requiring deep structuring, analytics and long‑cycle execution. The successful candidate will operate in a genuinely end‑to‑end underwriting capacity, with duties combining the following:

Duties

• Portfolio underwriting and aggregate management
• Pricing and analytical ownership (within a lean structure)
• Structuring and execution of delegated authority partnerships
• Strategy input across new products, geographies and portfolio build
• Engagement with data, systems and underwriting frameworks

• Strong emphasis on analytics, pricing discipline and portfolio thinking
• International remit across the US, Australia and beyond

Candidate Profile

• Strong analytical and technical capability, with confidence in pricing and portfolio dynamics
• Commercial judgement and the ability to underwrite with autonomy
• Experience (or interest) in delegated authority / portfolio solutions structures
• A structured, long‑term approach to deal development rather than transactional underwriting
• Intellectual curiosity and flexibility across lines and geographies

Opportunity

This is a broad, hands‑on role suited to an underwriter looking to move beyond siloed underwriting into a more holistic, portfolio‑driven model with real ownership and autonomy. Both Property and Casualty backgrounds will be considered, but there remains a strong preference for D&F open market experience.
