Commodities Product Control Vice President
LONDON
We’re seeking someone to join our EMEA Commodities product control team that is part of the Fixed Income Controllers Group. The immediate team consists of 4 persons in London with a deployed team of 6 in Mumbai supporting the production aspects of the role. This is a Vice President level position within the Product Controllers Job Family which specializes in ensuring adequacy of controls, profit and loss and balance sheet reporting and reconciliations for a segment / business / product area, as well as management reporting across business segments or cross functional end-to-end product oversight.
What you’ll do in the role:
- Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm
- Responsible for and lead a significant set of deliverables, leveraging advanced understanding of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment
- Proactively identify emerging risks and contributing to strategies for mitigating them
- Act as a role model and culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards
- Review P&L’s produced in Mumbai and distribute this information to the BU and internal clients
- Produce and review month-end close processes for the business unit
- Attest the data with respect to the accuracy and completeness of the financial statements which will ultimately roll up into the externally reported financial statements
- Assist with production of monthly business packs for desk heads
- Liaise with accounting policy to address any accounting questions from new trade proposals
- Build and maintain networks with the Business Unit and other divisions
- Understand balance sheet, liquidity & funding movements related to the business activities
- Complete ad‑hoc projects and queries as required by senior Finance and Business Unit management
- Manage, attract, develop and retain talent for team within Finance while creating an inclusive environment; translate Firmwide goals into actionable goals for department/function
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Advanced understanding of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environment
- Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and acknowledge efforts of team members
- Ability to articulate risk and impact to various audiences, and create plans to mitigate those risks
- Graduate and preferably a qualified accountant
- Previous work experience in financial services, audit or accounting (product control experience preferable)
- Knowledge of financial products – Fixed Income products and Commodities would be preferable
- High regard for attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work on multiple tasks with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to partner and work effectively both with direct team members and with colleagues across the wider organisation
- High self‑motivation and the ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
- Awareness of emerging industry trends such as Basel capital rules
- At least 6 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
