About the role
Our friendly and supportive team at the Sexual Health Garden Clinic is looking for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our growing Level 3 service based in Slough and Bracknell, with satellite clinics across Windsor and Maidenhead.
We provide high-quality sexual health and contraception services to a diverse community. The service operates Monday to Friday, with a requirement to work one Saturday every 4–6 weeks.
Key responsibilities
- Support patients with a wide range of sexual health needs, including STI testing and treatment, HIV care, and contraception services.
- Teach and empower patients to administer their own treatment where appropriate.
- Participate in Health Advising training and support the Health Advising team when necessary.
- Undergo training in specific clinical practice areas such as intrauterine and implant procedures, and apply this development in clinical settings.
- Obtain independent (non‑medical) prescribing status in accordance with organisational policies.
- Issue medication and/or administer vaccinations in accordance with Patient Group Directions when authorised.
- Engage in nurse‑led clinical sessions, including history taking and physical examinations, within clinical guidelines and personal competence.
Qualifications and experience
- Current NMC Adult Nurse registration.
- Sexual Health qualification in SRH or undertaking an SRH qualification.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Extensive post‑qualification experience in contraception and sexual health within a GUM setting.
- Ability to work autonomously and support staff in performing clinical duties.
- Strong organisational skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- IT literacy, including the ability to use software for data collection and presentations.
- Capacity to motivate self and team, conduct performance discussions, and manage workload.
- Commitment to holistic care and promoting independence.
- Team‑working, acting as a role model and communicator.
