Security Engineer, Data Protection | Quantitative Investment Firm
Working with a leading global quantitative investment firm, this role sits at the heart of a highly sophisticated, data-driven environment where security and performance go hand in hand.
As a Security Engineer within the Data Protection team, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding sensitive data across research, trading and corporate systems. You’ll work closely with quantitative researchers, traders and engineering teams to ensure data is protected throughout its lifecycle, without compromising usability or speed in a high-performance environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing data protection controls to secure critical information assets
- Defining and enforcing data handling policies and standards
- Identifying gaps in existing controls and driving risk-based improvements
- Monitoring security events, leading threat analysis and incident response
- Building automation, playbooks and scalable processes to improve security operations
- Collaborating with engineering teams to embed security into evolving systems
- Promoting best practices across the business and staying ahead of emerging threats
This role is well suited to a security professional with strong experience across data protection, cloud security and incident response, who enjoys working in a highly technical, fast-paced environment.
Key skills and experience:
- Strong background in cybersecurity with a focus on data protection
- Experience with SIEM, endpoint and network security tools
- Cloud security knowledge across AWS, Azure or GCP
- Scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell or Bash)
- Solid understanding of risk management and security frameworks
- Ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
