Core Purpose
- To ensure the successful delivery of subsea energy projects and tenders through the effective application of engineering expertise and technical knowledge, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Review assigned technical project documentation during the tender phase and provide engineering support to the Commercial Department in the preparation and development of tender submissions.
- Review assigned technical project documentation upon contract award, identifying and highlighting any changes, discrepancies between pre‑award and contract documentation, and deficiencies within tender method statements.
- Prepare for lead project kick‑off meetings to ensure clear alignment on project scope, objectives, deliverables, and execution strategy.
- Establish and maintain a clear understanding of customer deliverables, including project requirements, expectations, and delivery timescales.
- Capture, document, and communicate lessons learned through the preparation of engineering notes, technical feedback and continuous improvement recommendations.
- Provide and communicate constructive technical feedback, recognising both positive outcomes and areas for improvement to support continuous learning and project performance.
- Interface with the Document Control function to support management of MDRs, action tracking and project documentation scheduling requirements.
- Coordinate the development and issue of procurement, fabrication and installation documentation, including scopes of work, procedures, drawings and technical sketches.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on offshore construction techniques and methodologies during third‑party reviews, technical evaluations and risk assessments.
- Ensure that all designed, manufactured, assembled and commissioned components and systems are fit for purpose.
- Manage all interfaces relevant to assigned tasks, including clients, subcontractors, internal teams and offshore vessels, ensuring effective communication and coordination across all stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver clear and concise project briefings to all relevant project personnel, including offshore vessel crews.
- Ensure all offshore personnel engaged in project activities have a clear understanding of relevant project documentation and requirements, including safety and quality witness points.
- Ensure technical accuracy and compliance of offshore construction and inspection activities with contract requirements, including adherence to defined witness and hold points.
- Review vessel deck plans and all lifting plans associated with project activities.
- Act as the focal point for resolving technical queries and issues arising during offshore construction and inspection activities, coordinating with onshore support teams as required.
- Be accountable to the Project Manager/Offshore Project Manager for all engineering aspects of offshore operations.
- Manage the offshore construction schedule, liaising with the Offshore Project Manager and client representatives to plan work scope execution, communicate schedule changes and impacts and maintain accurate as‑built records.
- Ensure all project engineering activities are carried out in accordance with established BMS processes and procedures.
- Review Daily Progress Reports prior to issue, ensuring technical accuracy, completeness and alignment with project requirements.
- Act as the focal point for the collation and compilation of as‑built documentation.
- Be accountable for the effective management and expediting of equipment hire processes, including timely on‑hire and off‑hire activities.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Project Engineers and undergraduate engineers.
- Collaborate with Lead Engineers and Managers to support workload planning and effective resource management across the engineering team.
- Work with Lead Engineers and Managers to contribute to performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback.
QHSE Responsibilities
To have a general understanding of the areas of our QHSE Management System and OEG’s QHSE aims and objectives that are relevant to the role.
Comply with the requirements of OEG Energy Group Policies and the responsibilities within the wider QHSE Management System.

Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years’ relevant engineering experience within subsea operations, topside operations, renewables and/or the oil and gas industry.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all engineering outputs and project deliverables.
- Diligent and meticulous in approach.
- Strong organisational skills with a structured and methodical approach to work.
- Good communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels and with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in design and CAD software.
- Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint and Adobe software.
- A strong team player who is supportive, adaptable and proactive with a positive approach to work.
- Working knowledge of subsea and topside installation techniques, equipment and methodologies, including rigging and sea fastening, fabrication and construction methods, isolations and barriers and general subsea installation practices.
- Strong self‑management skills, demonstrating accountability, initiative and the ability to prioritise and deliver work effectively with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent demonstrable industry experience in a related field.
- Current Topside Medical certificate (desirable).
- Valid Offshore Survival and Firefighting certification (desirable).
