Help us create a better future, quicker

To lead and provide subject matter expertise for multi technologies focused on grid connections (commercial contracts) - UK and Ireland, covering both onshore and offshore connections across Distribution and Transmission voltages.

Reporting to the Head of the department, the Grid & Regulation Manager will work closely with members of all teams in SPR including legal, the investment office, land and estates, development, construction, global technical services and operations.

The successful candidate will also play a critical role in interfacing externally with Network Operators, Transmission System Operators, relevant regulatory bodies, industry groups and trade associations.

The individual will have significant opportunities to work closely with both SPR's executive team and Iberdrola's global regulation, demonstrating that the grid teams' contributions and impacts, focus on enabling business targets and therefore contributing to Net Zero.

What you'll be doing

You'll be a key influencer on behalf of SPR and will have the responsibility for identifying and mitigating commercial and regulatory risks and/or improving revenue opportunities linked to grid connections, spanning the whole lifecycle of generation from pre-development through decommissioning. Understanding and navigating the relevant codes and legislation that govern the associated procedures and methodologies effectively, will be key to being able to perform this role well.

Work will typically include digging into the detail of how regulation can affect grid, including: problem solving – to help different teams in the business better manage projects; lobbying externally – to improve contractual positions with network operators; and, internal education – to ensure the business understands the complex and ever-changing world of connections (present focus is the reform and its associated transition).

What you'll bring

You’ll be degree educated and/or have extensive experience working in the electricity industry which may have been from a commercial, or engineering focus – with the ability to work in either. Proven experience working with codes and/or licences and/or grid agreements/contracts is essential, including the ability to navigate, interpret and respond to complex documents such as consultations covering technical industry reform.
