NC Associates are working in partnership with a well-established and growing Accountancy Practice based in Manchester City Centre to recruit a Practice Accountant Senior. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant looking to take the next step within a progressive and supportive firm offering strong client exposure and long‑term career development.
Reporting into Managers and Partners, you will manage a portfolio of clients while supporting junior team members and ensuring high‑quality delivery across accounts and advisory work.
Practice Accountant Senior Responsibilities
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of SME and owner‑managed business clients
- Preparing and reviewing management accounts and financial reports
- Supporting client advisory work including forecasting and business support
- Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
- Reviewing work prepared by junior team members and providing feedback
- Supporting and mentoring Accounts Assistants and trainees
- Assisting with tax compliance work including corporation tax and VAT returns
- Ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and internal procedures
- Supporting Managers and Partners with ad‑hoc project work and client assignments
- Managing multiple deadlines and client deliverables effectively
Practice Accountant Senior Experience Required
To be successful in your application, you should have the following experience:
Essential:
- ACA / ACCA qualified or qualified by experience
- Strong background working within an Accountancy Practice environment
- Experience preparing statutory accounts for SME / owner‑managed businesses
- Good technical accounting knowledge
- Experience reviewing work completed by junior staff
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Ability to manage workload and deadlines effectively
- Strong Microsoft Excel and accounting software skills
Desirable:
- Experience with cloud‑based accounting software including Xero and Sage
- Exposure to advisory‑focused client work
- Previous mentoring or supervisory experience
