This is an exciting opportunity for an ST3+ level doctor to develop advanced clinical and academic skills within a world‑leading tertiary fetal‑maternal medicine referral centre at UCLH. The successful candidate will develop independent competencies to perform advanced obstetric ultrasound scans in first, second and third trimester including independent certification in cervical length assessments, fetal Dopplers and fetal echocardiography to enable supporting management of a wide range of complex obstetric and fetal conditions. They will also participate in high‑quality research, contributing to innovative projects that are expected to lead to peer‑reviewed publications and support a higher degree (PhD). In addition to developing technical and academic expertise, the post holder will gain experience in supervising and supporting training in advanced obstetric ultrasound, including teaching and mentoring junior trainees and sonographers.

You will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred obstetric ultrasound within a busy tertiary fetal‑maternal medicine referral centre, demonstrating strong clinical judgement and the ability to manage complex cases efficiently within a multidisciplinary team. You will develop effective communication, prioritisation, and decision‑making skills in a dynamic clinical environment whilst upholding the policies and values of UCLH.
This role offers a strong academic focus, with the expectation that you will undertake a higher degree (PhD) alongside clinical training. You will contribute to the design, delivery and analysis of original research in fetal‑maternal medicine, developing skills in study methodology, data interpretation, and scientific writing, with the aim of presenting work at national and international meetings and publishing in peer‑reviewed journals.
You will support teaching and supervision of resident doctors, midwives and sonographers, helping to develop others' skills in obstetric ultrasound while maintaining a culture of safety and continuous learning. You will also contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, and audit activities, demonstrating initiative and leadership.
