About the Role

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join our skilled teams as a casual Residential Childcare Officer supporting young people in our children’s homes. Trafford Council operates two homes (registered for up to six children) that care for children with social, emotional, mental health, autism, ADHD, and mild learning difficulties. Working as part of a caring team, you will provide daily care, cooking and meal preparation, drive children to appointments, complete paperwork, maintain a tidy and safe environment, and support children to meet their individual needs and aspirations.

About You

Key attributes sought include empathy, strong relationship building with children and families, the ability to create and explain routines, resilience, persistence, and planning skills. Flexibility, commitment, and the capacity to work on a rota, including sleep‑in duties, are essential. An enhanced DBS check, a children‑barred list check and a driving licence are required.

Additional Information

Advert may close early if we receive a high number of applications. Casual workers accrue holiday at 12.66%; an unsocial hours allowance of 6% will be paid for rota work. Shift work includes evenings and weekends. Driving is required for this role. The position operates on a 24‑hour rota.

Key Information

Pre‑employment checks will include verification of right to work in the UK, two satisfactory references, a medical check, and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. All post holders are subject to safeguarding checks as Trafford Council is committed to protecting the welfare of children and young people.
