Overview

Following the retirement of a long‑serving Animal Health Officer, Worcestershire County Council is recruiting a permanent replacement. The Animal Health function is part of the Commercial Standards sector of Trading Standards, alongside food standards, animal feed, weights and measures, and product safety.

The service operates on an intelligence‑led model, and the successful candidate will deliver the full range of tasks in their area of expertise, including inspections, investigations, project work and identifying intelligence‑based cases for the monthly tasking meeting.

Key focus areas for this post are animal disease control, primarily farm businesses and associated premises, plus the busy livestock market in Worcester. Some animal welfare work may also be required in specific circumstances.

The team works closely with Environmental Health and Licensing colleagues, maintaining strong relationships with partners across the sector.
