Speciality Doctor in Older Peoples Care Unit | Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Overview

Full time (10PA) Specialty Doctor to work within the Older Peoples Care Unit at Kingsmill Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients and record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively.
• Submit clinical activity promptly to the Information Department; participate in annual appraisal and job plan review with the clinical manager.
• Attend and participate in the Trust’s academic programme, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
• Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and abide by professional codes of conduct.
• Collaborate with local managers, professional colleagues and other teams to ensure efficient service operation and contribute to management.
• Comply with the Trust’s policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions; take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the Medical Director and other managers in preparing service plans.
• Provide high‑quality evidence‑based senior medical care to patients in the community and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver person‑centred care.
• Clerk new admissions, assess mental and physical states, obtain collateral histories, and liaise with colleagues in other teams.
• Complete risk assessments, complex capacity assessments, and consider the interface between physical and mental healthcare in planning care.
• Collaborate with the Multi‑Professional Approved Clinician (MPAC) and share responsibility for patients on the ward; provide cover for the Consultant when absent.
• Participate in the ward’s ‘Red, Amber, Green’ meeting system to review patient progress and manage discharge; attend relevant patient meetings and maintain good relationships with patients, families, and carers.
