Responsibilities

  • Senior Medical Writer is responsible for driving day-to-day project delivery within an account to create medical content across therapy areas (with support from others).
  • Lead discussions with clients and external experts on therapy areas, drivers influencing treatment decision-making, and patient pathways.
  • Editorial: Develop compelling narratives from complex information and structure/write novel projects.
  • Strategic and AI responsibilities:
    • Proactively utilize a broad range of AI solutions to streamline complex projects, with support from others.
    • Evaluate and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance project efficiency, collaborating with teammates to optimize delivery.
    • Provide guidance and training to team members on best practice.
  • Project ownership: Lead content delivery for complex projects with supervision, delegating to team members as appropriate to ensure timely execution to a high standard.
  • Project development:
    • Interrogate client/internal briefs and proactively flag queries or potential issues.
    • Apply critical thinking to achieve deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Proactively resolve queries and address feedback with a solution-focused approach.
    • Initiate discussions with Account Teams regarding potential barriers to successful completion.
  • Quality control: Ensure overall quality of deliverables with supervision, and review work for adherence to briefs and objectives, providing constructive feedback.
  • On-site involvement: Lead elements of on-site programmes across events with support from others.
  • Client liaison: Lead scientific discussions with clients and external experts to capture briefs, resolve queries, and progress development in a timely manner.
  • Growth and new business:
    • Support development of scientific content for new therapeutic areas for new business.
    • Identify new business opportunities with new and existing clients.
  • Project management: Provide timely and accurate communications to accounts team on writer hours and project progress.
  • Teamwork: Train/mentor junior writers on account-specific therapy area knowledge and processes.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Strong scientific background with a degree in a scientific or medical discipline (post-graduate degree preferred). High academic achievement expected.
  • Experience of medical writing at an MW level or above.
  • Passion for and understanding of healthcare, science, medicine, and the pharmaceutical industry, with keen interest in AI technologies.
  • Personable, articulate, and capable of nurturing relationships. Experience mentoring MWs and interacting with clients is essential.
