This fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a highly regarded ENT service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, a specialist tertiary centre for a range of conditions including Head & Neck Cancer, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Vascular and Plastics, as well as being a Major Trauma Centre.

Services are provided across Royal Preston and Chorley District & General Hospital which is home to one of the first GIRFT accredited Elective Surgical Hubs in the country.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will support the provision and development of a high-quality ENT service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. They will provide a comprehensive Otology service for adults and children, including the assessment, treatment and ongoing management of patients requiring implantable hearing devices (excluding cochlear implants).

The appointee will work closely with the wider ENT multidisciplinary team and take an active role in the development and management of audiovestibular services, including balance and tinnitus pathways. They will contribute to safe, effective and patient-centred care across outpatient, elective and inpatient settings.

The postholder will promote high professional standards of clinical care, maintain accurate clinical records and correspondence, and undertake the administrative duties associated with patient management. They will develop effective working relationships with General Practitioners and other stakeholders to support integrated pathways and continuity of care.

The successful candidate will play an active role in the teaching, training and supervision of junior staff and will contribute to audit, clinical governance, quality improvement and service development activity within the department.

The postholder will maintain a continuing commitment to patient care, including where employed less than full time, and will ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for cover during periods of leave or absence.

Qualifications

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via . CCT or CESR (CP) -proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview . CESR or . European Community Rights
  • An appropriate higher ENT surgical qualification
  • Higher Medical Degree (MD or MSc)
  • Publications
  • Teaching Experience

Experience and Skills

  • Higher surgical training in ENT within a recognised programme
  • Wide experience of general ENT and Otology
  • Experience of working within an ENT department and NHS systems and practices and up to date with current practices
  • Fellowship training in otology and implant otology

  • Evidence of effective communication skills
