Senior Design Manager
North East England
Ideally, you will be based in or around the North East area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites and projects in the Region.
What you will be doing
- Managing the relationships with the client, subcontractors, project and design teams for the efficient development and delivery of designs on a project or bid.
- Leading the design process in accordance with the Galliford Try Building Management System.
- Applying and monitoring compliance with CDM 2015 and the principle of prevention and safety in design.
- Identifying and mitigating design risk and realising opportunities through all stages of a bid or project.
- Assisting in the selection of designers for a project and ensuring competency checks are undertaken.
- Developing and agreeing the scope and responsibilities for consultants and inviting fees for the compilation and management of the project fee schedule.
- Developing the design programme in conjunction with the Planner and managing, monitoring and reporting on the Information Release Schedules and progress and quality of design deliverables to seek advice.
- Managing statutory and third‑party processes such as Planning, Building Control, BREEAM.
- Undertaking site inspections to ensure the as-built product meets the design criteria.
About You
- Experienced in and knowledgeable of CDM 2015.
- Aware of H&S responsibilities and adheres to company policies.
- Able to read and interpret design and construction programmes.
- Understanding of buildability and willing to challenge designs that do not meet sequencing or construction methodology.
- Analytical with advanced problem‑solving skills.
- Able to develop ideas and present concisely.
- Excellent communicator able to engage with senior stakeholders.
- Able to demonstrate commercial acumen and manage the design change process.
