Part‑time Consultant Sport & Exercise Medicine (SEM) – 16 hours per week
Role: Deliver clinical leadership of the specialist Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Sport & Exercise Medicine (SEM) service within the Defence Rehabilitation Service, supporting the Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) at the Regional Rehabilitation Unit (RRU) and potentially conducting peripatetic clinics within a reasonable travel radius.
Responsibilities
- Provide a timely and effective MSKI service to all appropriately referred serving personnel.
- Triage, assess and treat a variety of MSKI within an MDT, applying advanced clinical skills and knowledge to support appropriate treatment pathways.
- Interpret clinical and diagnostic results, supporting onward referrals to secondary care and the private contracting system.
- Supervise, mentor and train Specialist Trainees in SEM and Senior Physiotherapists within the RRU.
- Act as subject‑matter expert in injury prevention initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Medical degree recognised in the United Kingdom.
- Member or Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK).
- Qualified and current in Diagnostic Ultrasound and Injection Therapy.
- On the Specialist Register of the GMC (SEM), achieved via a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR); the proposed CCT date must be within six months of interview.
- European Community Right.
- Experience within an MDT delivering musculoskeletal or SEM services to a defence or similar population is desirable.

Working Conditions
Location: Bulford Barracks, Ministry of Defence (Defence Medical Services). This position does not require deployment and offers pro‑rated pay for part‑time working.
Pay: £109,725 – £145,478 per annum (pro‑rated for part‑time). Pay award pending.
