Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver recruitment across the Service, including on‑call and whole‑time firefighters, senior officers, Fire Control (999 operators) and promotion processes.
- Partner with managers and People Partners to provide a high‑quality, responsive and inclusive recruitment service.
- Act as the trusted expert on operational and Fire Control recruitment and selection, giving clear specialist advice.
- Ensure all recruitment activity meets the highest standards of fairness, transparency and compliance with employment legislation, safer recruitment and vetting requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying new ways to attract, retain and build a diverse, future‑ready workforce.
Ideal Candidate
- CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong track record of designing and delivering effective recruitment processes.
- Confident in providing expert HR advice, including on complex matters.
- Self‑motivated, collaborative and able to lead, support and develop others.
Other Information
- Travel as required – typically once per week.
- Very occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
- Standard Disclosure & Barring Service check (DBS) clearance will be undertaken before offer.
- Full pre‑employment checks include identity, right to work, medical, references, employment history and clarification of gaps.
- English language proficiency will be assessed as part of the selection process (English required for public‑facing roles).
