The Catering Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital provide meals, snacks and beverages to patients, staff and visitors. The Cook Team Leader is a key member of the team and has responsibility for carrying a range of duties related to food production and service in a busy kitchen environment. The Cook Team Leader will be working closely with Catering Supervisors, Catering Co‑ordinator and managers to ensure that Catering Services meet relevant nutritional and dietary requirements arising from clinical, religious and cultural needs.
The Cook Team Leader needs to have good teamwork, leadership, communication and organisational skills. They need to be self‑motivated, be able to work unsupervised, have a flexible approach to shift alterations and have a friendly and professional approach.
The Health Board offers excellent working conditions including a generous entitlement of paid holiday, enhanced pay for weekend working and an opportunity to join the Superannuation Pension Scheme. We are offering a permanent contract of employment and hours of work will be 37.5 hours a week – working a combination of shifts to cover where needed on a rota which includes Bank Holidays and weekends as per the needs of the service. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 or equivalent qualifications plus Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or work towards on commencement). Experience of working as a Chef, catering for large numbers would be of advantage. Patisserie qualifications are desirable.
