OCU leads the way in end-to-end infrastructure engineering across the utilities, digital, and energy markets, specialising in the safe and efficient delivery of complex client requirements. With a breadth of capability, depth of operational capacity, and a commitment to innovation, OCU is not just part of the market — it is leading it.
Working directly with many of the UK’s leading water, power, energy transition, telecoms, and digital clients, we are now looking to strengthen our commercial capability with the addition of an M&E Estimator within our Water sector.
As an M&E Estimator at OCU, you will support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for a range of wastewater infrastructure and treatment projects across the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced estimators, engineers, and project managers, contributing to the successful delivery of complex mechanical and electrical schemes within the water industry.
You will be involved in projects delivered on a full mechanical, electrical, civil, and process installation basis, supporting both new build and refurbishment works across wastewater treatment sites. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their estimating career within a growing and forward-thinking organisation.
You will support the development of detailed and accurate cost estimates by analysing project specifications, drawings, and technical information. Working collaboratively with internal teams, you will help gather key data, assess risks, and contribute to financial forecasting to ensure projects are both competitive and commercially viable.
You will play a key role in reviewing tender documentation, liaising with supply chain partners for pricing, and assisting in the preparation of submissions that reflect both quality and value. As part of a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you will contribute to continuous improvement within the estimating function, ensuring lessons learned are captured and applied across future bids.
We are looking for someone with mechanical and electrical estimating experience, ideally within the water or wastewater sector. Experience working on wastewater treatment projects is essential, alongside a strong understanding of associated mechanical, electrical, and civil works.
You will bring strong numerical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical information effectively. Good communication skills are important, as you will be working closely with a range of stakeholders across engineering, commercial, and delivery teams.
The ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is key, along with a proactive and organised approach to your work. An awareness of UK building regulations and health and safety practices would be beneficial.
