It is essential that the post holder holds a drivers license and has access to a vehicle, as the role involves travel across probation offices in Burton, Tamworth & Cannock.
Working in partnership with the Prison and Probation Service, you will manage a caseload of clients in the community, providing advice and support relevant to their housing needs. You will carry out initial assessments to understand each person’s specific needs and agree a tailored action plan. This includes support to end or sustain a tenancy, help find accommodation or provide basic budgeting advice, and liaise with other agencies. Support is provided face to face with individuals and groups.
You will be a great communicator, enjoy working in a busy people‑focused role, and be organised and solution‑focused. The right candidate can engage others, is non‑judgmental, and brings integrity, a proactive attitude and good ICT skills (MS Office including Excel and custom databases). The ideal candidate will have experience working in the criminal justice sector and some knowledge of homelessness legislation. Transferable skills will be welcomed and training provided.
Due to working with adults in a custodial setting, this role requires an Enhanced DBS check against the adult workforce and prison clearance. Having a criminal record will not preclude your success in this role; any criminal record information will be subject to a fair and proportionate assessment.
If you would like advice about applying for work with a criminal record, please contact our confidential Criminal Record Support Service on 0300 123 1999 or by e‑mail at helpline@nacro.org.uk.
At Nacro, we believe in the power of a diverse and inclusive team. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including those with criminal records and those with first‑hand experience of the criminal justice system. All applications are assessed on merit.
