The Opportunity
An exciting role has opened for a New Product Development Technologist specialising in cake development. This position sits within a collaborative development team and is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys baking and experimenting with new ideas.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Take ownership of new product concepts, guiding them from early-stage ideas through trials, refinement, and final launch across multiple channels
- Work hands‑on in a development kitchen, producing samples, organising taste panels, and reviewing competitor products
- Partner with cross‑functional teams including brand, digital, category, and international colleagues to deliver successful product launches
- Stay ahead of emerging bakery trends by attending industry events, reviewing market activity, and engaging with suppliers
- Translate insights into practical product ideas that shape future ranges
What You’ll Bring
- A degree in Food Science (or similar experience), along with a solid understanding of food principles and a genuine enthusiasm for baking
- A creative mindset with the ability to adapt quickly and approach challenges with a positive, solutions‑focused attitude
- Strong organisational skills, confidence sharing ideas, and comfort working with data and digital tools
- A proactive approach with the ability to contribute both independently and within a team environment
Additional Information
This role requires travel between sites, including a head office in Leeds, a production facility, and occasional external meetings, so flexibility and the ability to commute are essential.
