The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Insurance Programme Manager to join a leading organisation operating within the energy sector. Working in a complex, multi-entity environment, you’ll take ownership of a diverse and high-value insurance portfolio, ensuring robust protection, effective governance, and commercial value across the business.

This is a pivotal role where you’ll act as the organisation’s insurance subject matter expert, influencing strategy while overseeing day-to-day programme delivery. You’ll also lead a small claims team and collaborate with senior stakeholders across HSE, Finance, and Legal functions.

What You’ll Be Doing

Insurance Programme Leadership

Lead the end-to-end insurance renewal process across a broad portfolio including:Professional IndemnityPublic & Products LiabilityDirectors & Officers (D&O)Employers’ LiabilityEnvironmental Impairment LiabilityContractors All RiskCarriers Liability, Goods in Transit, Property, Motor and specialist covers

Partner with brokers and insurers to ensure efficient placement and optimal coverageContinuously review and enhance insurance arrangements in line with business growth, acquisitions, and emerging risksOwn and manage the annual insurance budget in collaboration with FinanceClaims & Risk Insight

Oversee a small team managing claims across multiple entitiesEnsure timely and effective claims handling, from notification through to resolutionAnalyse claims data and trends to support risk reduction initiatives alongside HSE and operational teamsStakeholder Engagement

Act as the go-to expert for all insurance-related matters internallyBuild strong relationships with brokers, insurers, and key internal stakeholdersProvide guidance and training on insurance processes and risk transferGovernance & Reporting

Maintain accurate policy records, claims data, and insurance documentationDeliver clear and insightful reporting to senior leadershipEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience

5+ years’ experience in corporate or industrial insurance, ideally within energy, utilities, or engineeringStrong knowledge of core insurance lines including Liability, Professional Indemnity, D&O, Environmental, and Contractors All RiskProven track record managing renewals, claims, and broker relationshipsExperience leading or mentoring a teamExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsDesirable

ACII (or working towards)Experience in a multi-site or complex organisationExposure to risk management or HSE environments

A confident communicator who can engage at all levels, including senior leadershipCommercially astute with a strong understanding of risk financingProactive, resilient, and highly organisedCollaborative in approach, with a pragmatic mindset
