Overview
A leading global provider of automation technologies is seeking a Sales Engineer to join its UK team. This is a national, customer‑facing role supporting major accounts across sectors such as courier networks, airports, logistics hubs, and third‑party distribution providers.
You will manage and develop long‑standing customer relationships while also driving new business across emerging markets. The role combines account management, technical sales, and business development, working closely with regional sales, technical specialists, and wider European colleagues.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, complex solution selling, and long‑term customer partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Support regional sales colleagues during customer visits to understand applications and technical requirements
- Prepare professional quotations and proposals when required
- Follow up on marketing‑generated and self‑generated leads in a timely manner
- Identify, qualify, and develop new customers and market opportunities
- Maintain strong awareness of industry trends, customer challenges, and emerging technologies
- Build and nurture long‑term customer relationships
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and performance updates to the leadership team
- Maintain up‑to‑date records within the company CRM system
- Understand and follow internal processes for project‑based business
- Demonstrate products and solutions independently or alongside technical specialists

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven sales experience in a similar technical or engineering‑led environment
- Ability to build long‑term customer relationships
- Understands that project sales often involve long sales cycles
- Consultative approach — helping customers buy what they need, not overselling
- High attention to detail
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Calm under pressure with a proactive, self‑starting attitude
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and flexible team player
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Competent IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CRM, social platforms)
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel nationally
