SEMH Occupational Therapist (12 months locum contract)
Pay: £35 - £50 per hour (depending on experience)
Southampton (Hampshire)
I am working exclusively with a collaboration of independent schools that have a fantastic SEN school who are looking for a locum OT to join their friendly team.
The therapy is embedded and the Therapies Manager is very child focused, they have a team of 9 that help with the therapeutic provision. SEMH Experience would be very useful with this caseload.
Job Duties will include:
- Assess students’ fine motor, gross motor, sensory, and functional skills that affect learning and participation in school activities.
- Develop individual therapy plans and targets based on students’ educational and developmental needs.
- Support children with conditions such as autism, ADHD, developmental coordination disorder, sensory processing difficulties, or physical disabilities.
- Help students improve handwriting, pencil grip, scissor skills, and classroom tool use.
- Provide sensory regulation strategies to help pupils focus, stay calm, and engage in learning.
- Recommend and implement classroom adaptations, specialist equipment, or seating arrangements.
- Deliver one-to-one or group occupational therapy sessions.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, teaching assistants, speech therapists, physiotherapists, and parents.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) by writing reports and attending review meetings.
