Scenic Workshop Manager – Live Events & Experiential Production

Greater London | Up to £50k (DOE) | Full-time | Permanent

A specialist production and build company, within the live events and experiential sector is looking for an experienced Scenic Workshop Manager to oversee the delivery of complex scenic fabrication projects across events, installations, entertainment, and immersive environments.

This is a senior leadership opportunity suited to someone who combines strong workshop operations expertise with hands-on scenic construction knowledge and the ability to manage high-performing multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced production settings.

The Role

You’ll lead the day-to-day running of a busy scenic workshop, managing workflow, fabrication quality, team performance, and operational efficiency across multiple concurrent projects.

Working closely with production, design, and technical stakeholders, you’ll play a key role in transforming creative concepts into practical build solutions, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to a consistently high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and developing a large workshop team including permanent staff and freelance specialists
• Overseeing scenic builds from technical interpretation through to final delivery
• Planning workshop schedules, labour allocation, and project priorities across multiple productions
• Maintaining high standards of fabrication, finish quality, and pre-site preparation
• Supporting a positive, collaborative, and safety-led workshop culture
• Monitoring budgets, materials, tooling, and operational efficiencies
• Ensuring compliance with UK H&S legislation, RAMS, COSHH, and safe workshop practices
• Acting as a central communication point between workshop operations and wider production teams
• Troubleshooting technical build challenges and implementing practical fabrication solutions

Ideal Background

• Significant experience within scenic construction, fabrication, live events, theatre, broadcast, exhibitions, or experiential production
• Proven experience managing large workshop or fabrication teams in high-pressure environments
• Strong technical understanding of scenic build methods, materials, and workshop processes
• Confident interpreting technical drawings and coordinating builds from concept to completion
• Experience balancing operational delivery, people management, and workshop performance
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple fast-moving projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Experience

• Background in large-scale events, touring productions, immersive experiences, or broadcast environments
• Knowledge of CAD workflows and fabrication technologies
• IOSH or equivalent H&S certification
• Experience implementing workshop process improvements or operational efficiencies
• Awareness of sustainable production practices and material reuse initiatives
